kellogg's diner is re-opening...TODAY?!

Wed, 10/15/2008 - 04:33 — karol

so i just got around to reading the city section of the nytimes (from oct. 5th), and it seems that kellogg's will be re-opening some time next week, which is to say...THIS WEEK. as of this morning, the doors were still closed with no sign of activity.

i think all of our hearts sank a few months ago when we realized that the kellogg's institution we all knew and loved (and loved to hate and at times, couldn't live without) was shut down only to be morphed into something shiny and new and unrecognizable (as much of williamsburg is). however, i don't think any of us really had any idea what we're apparently in for. a DUANE READE next door?? a supermarket?? a full bar INSIDE kellogg's?? (i know the last thing any of us need when we stumble into kellogg's in the wee hours of the night to get our drunk eat-on is access to more alcohol.)  its unreal.  and i just got text-word that an AQUARIUM is now parked inside kellogg's. seriously, an AQUARIUM?? at this point, i don't think it's unreasonable to demand a billiards room as well. where's the billiards room?! oh right, it's in the luxury condo next door (fall 2009). great. suddenly lazy catfish seems like the only authentic joint in the 'burg.

The aquarium really should be in a billiards room - now that I think about it, every billiards room SHOULD have an aquarium. Watching simple colorful fish swim is the best way to calm your blood pressure after a missed shot.

The Duane Reade is necessary, I mean where is the nearest drug store right now - somewhere on Grand near the Graham stop on the L. I can't walk that far. I need drugs, and where else am I going to get them?

Which leads to my final point - a bar IN Kellogg's!?! Wonderful! Now I won't even have to leave the diner to be able to fall off the lunch counter stool!
