once upon a time, billiardsburg called East River Bar one of the worst, if not THE WORST place to shoot pool in all of the land. even though the games there were free, the table wasn't level, had significant water damage, and was located in an EXTREMELY dimly lit room. you had to get the balls and cue sticks from the bartender, and all that stuff was messed up too. then, one day, everything changed. a pristine table arrived and things looked hopeful...only, the table now cost $1.50 and was still located in an EXTREMELY dimly lit room. it was infuriating.

but wouldn't you know it-- last friday night, i ended up there for a little something my friends and i like to call "let's do something cheap, because i am broke. [sigh]" and wouldn't you know it-- somebody suggested the long forgotten ERB. truth be told, i would've been content with $3 shocktops at redd's, but i was feeling agreeable. well, apparently, the owners of ERB have once again managed to get their act (semi-)together, because to my amazement, a light fixture had been installed above the pool table. huzzah! but, of course, the table was still $1.50 and...wait for it...EATING QUARTERS! and since the problem was not being resolved, and the crowd was getting obnoxious, we ending up leaving and going to dressler for cocktails. so much for the recession and being broke...
